Initially I was able to print from my iPhone using AirPrint (albeit with wrong page size format) but now even this doesn't work.
#Netgear genie for mac pro pro
Even looking for it on the iMac / MacBook Pro by IP address returns a blank.
#Netgear genie for mac pro plus
With the HP printer (which works fine by USB to the iMac) it shows up on Genie as being part of the network plus the printer test shows it to be connected fine by wireless but when I try to print to it it's as if it doesn't exist. With Airplay (which is turned on on Apple TV) there is no recognition by either the iPad (iOS5) or the iPhone (iOS6) and so no option on them to connect. It's as devices don't even recognise that they are on the same network. Whilst I managed to get Apple TV to recognise the iMacs and MacBook Pro regarding home network sharing of music (iTunes) etc, I cannot get AirPlay to work nor my wireless HP printer. Communication between devices on the network seems deficient. I'm also dubious about how well the LPC function of Genie works since I seem to have to log onto openDNS via website every time I check it.Ģ. Sometimes it shows all of them (there are about 12, with IP addresses given from 192.168.1.3 through to 192.168.1.14 and other times it only indicates one or two connected even though I know otherwise (since they are on and working wireless). Genie (which I run off my MacBook Pro) initially crashed a lot (each time I added a device) and now seems variable in which devices it shows attached to the network.

I presume that whichever band they use it's still all counted as the same network.ġ. Some devices connect via 2.4GHz whilst others via 5GHz. This included creation of a bypass account together with loading the Netgear Utility onto the iMacs and MacBook Pro to allow the bypass account feature to work. Genie initially showed all devices attached without problem.Īlso set up Live Parental Controls using website.

Seemed to have no problems setting up the router / wireless network and getting all devices connected. Home network includes iPads (wireless), iPhones (wireless), iPod touch (wireless), Apple TV (latest version, wireless), Foxtel (ethernet), HP printer (wireless), Sony PS3. Operating system - OSX 10.8.2 on all desktop devices (2 x iMac and 1 x MacBook Pro).Ĭable internet (Telstra Bigpond) using a netgear CG3100D in bridge mode (NAT and wireless turned off) connected to the WNDR3800 by the Cat5 cable that came with it. Still having problems so have sent the following e-mail to Netgear support and will post the outcome when done.
